Everyone needs a Day of Play! Individuals and families are welcome to come and try their hands at a variety of games and activities. Use your wits to see how fast you can put together the puzzles. There will be Magna-Tiles® to build with, tea party sets, inflatable bowling, and more! This is the perfect opportunity to try out some of the games and toys available for purchase in the Museum Store.

Visit the Museum for a fun come-and-go event for children and adults from 10 am – 2 pm. There will be something for all ages!

What are very, very, very small but produce beautiful colors? Nanoparticles! Found throughout nature, these tiny particles interact differently with light than larger objects do, resulting in iridescence that reflects from shells, wings, and other small surfaces. Learn how nanoparticles work, how they differ from pigments found in nature, and what type of creatures depend on nanoparticles to survive.

Join us for this 20 – 30 minute Meet & Greet with some of the Museum’s live Animal Ambassadors. The animals included will depend on availability, but could be a chuckwalla, an eastern indigo snake, a Mexican alligator lizard, a scorpion, or one of the other live animals from the Museum. Guests will have the opportunity to ask the Museum staff questions.  Please note that guests will not be able to touch the animals.

Guests will learn the different roles that bees play in the hive.  By discovering more about honey bees, we remind ourselves of the importance each individual plays in society – both human and insect. Lastly, explore just one of the ways that bees communicate through dance by learning the moves yourself!

ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUT – Grades K – 2: Our Planet Earth – Weather & Seasons
9:30 am, 11 am, & 1 pm

After a discussion about prior knowledge on seasons, participants will work together to help demonstrate how the Earth rotates around the Sun and explore each of the seasons in stations. Participants will go home with a seasonal calendar they make and a weather craft.

Use your knowledge of natural disasters to engineer a structure that can withstand the elements.

Grades 7 – 12: She’s All Rat  – Rat Dissection
9:30 am & 11 am
$26 (+ tax) per participant, per class

We will be discussing the characteristics of rodents, focusing on characteristics that separate them from other mammals. Participants will dissect a rodent specimen.

Come join the fun in these wonderfully engaging and interactive classes that have the smallest of our guests in mind! In each class, children will learn about a different theme by listening to stories, singing fun songs, and creating theme-inspired crafts. March’s theme is Five Senses- Hearing.

These classes are designed for a caregiver to enjoy this experience with the child. The adult caregiver is an active participant in the program. Infants and older children will not be allowed to register for this class and are not permitted in the room. Admission to the Exhibits is not included.
