ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUTGrades K – 2: Our Planet Earth – Weather & Seasons
9:30 am, 11 am, & 1 pm
$14 (+ tax) per participant, per class

After a discussion about prior knowledge on seasons, participants will work together to help demonstrate how the Earth rotates around the Sun and explore each of the seasons in stations. Participants will go home with a seasonal calendar they make and a weather craft.

ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUTGrades 3 – 6: Stand Firm – STEM Mission
9:30 am, 11 am, & 1 pm
$14 (+ tax) per participant, per class

Use your knowledge of natural disasters to engineer a structure that can withstand the elements.

Grades 7 – 12: She’s All Rat  – Rat Dissection
9:30 am & 11 am
$26 (+ tax) per participant, per class

We will be discussing the characteristics of rodents, focusing on characteristics that separate them from other mammals. Participants will dissect a rodent specimen.

Limited spots available. Admission to the Exhibits is not included.

Come join the fun in these wonderfully engaging and interactive classes that have the smallest of our guests in mind! In each class, children will learn about a different theme by listening to stories, singing fun songs, and creating theme-inspired crafts. March’s theme is Five Senses- Hearing.

These classes are designed for a caregiver to enjoy this experience with the child. The adult caregiver is an active participant in the program. Infants and older children will not be allowed to register for this class and are not permitted in the room. Admission to the Exhibits is not included.

There are two ways to register: in person at the Guest Services desk in the Museum lobby or contact the Group Sales department during regular weekday business hours at (256) 898-6312.

The universe is a big place. In this interactive class, participants will learn more about orbit paths, galaxy movement, and the patterns of moons and stars. Each student will go home with a neat space themed craft! 

ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUTGrades 3 – 6: Backyard Biomes
9:30 am, 11 am, & 1 pm
$14 (+ tax) per participant, per class

Weather patterns have a big impact on plants and animals! We will connect knowledge about the hydrosphere and atmosphere with the biosphere and determine what kind of biome we find in our Alabama backyards.

ALL SESSIONS SOLD OUTGrades 7 – 12: Pigeon Incision – Pigeon Dissection
9:30 am & 11 am
$26 (+ tax) per participant, per class       

In this class, participants will learn about different types of birds and interact with biofacts (material from a once-living organism) like feathers, wings, and skulls. Participants will dissect a pigeon to learn more about the interesting anatomy of birds.
