The natural world is always changing. Natural disasters like tornados, volcanic eruptions, storms, and erosion can leave destruction in their wake. But did you know that even though these extreme events wreak havoc on nature, they also open up opportunities for new life?  Join us for Forces of Nature Fun Day and take part in a variety of hands-on activity and craft stations. Don’t miss a special presentation from News 19 Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson on tornadoes at 11 am and noon!

Guest Speaker: News 19 Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson
Tornadoes: Why They Happen and What Makes Them So Violent

At 11 am and Noon
Tornadoes get a lot of attention around here for good reason! They’re more common and often more destructive in Alabama and our neighboring states than anywhere else on Earth.  It all starts with something so simple that you’ve probably overlooked it before: warm water.  News 19 Chief Meteorologist Jason Simpson shows you from start to finish where these storms come from, why we have so many, and how you can plan to deal with severe weather threats that come our way.
